Erasmus+ Ambassador

“I became an enthusiastic promoter of the Erasmus+ program with my eyes open to a broader vision of education” – Amalia Nica from Slatina, Olt.

Amalia Nica laughs a lot. And she good laughs. In 2014 she discovered the writing of Erasmus+ projects, and since 2013 she has been a primary education teacher at the Constantin Brâcoveanu Secondary School in Slatina, Olt, and since 2021 she has been accepted as a doctoral student at the Doctoral School of Educational Sciences within the “Ion Creangă” State University ” from Chisinau with the theme “Digital resources in the formative assessment of primary school students”. I was with Amalia between June 20-22, 2023 in Brussels and I discovered her to be a young spirit with initiative and projective thinking, a specialist who understands that the playful must accompany us throughout life.

M. N. – How did your teaching career begin?

A.N.: – My teaching career began in 2002, upon completion of the “Nicolae Titulescu” Pedagogical High School in Slatina. I completed my master’s studies in the field of education. I hope that this rich experience has taught me not only to teach, but to inspire and positively influence the lives of my students. I am currently a at the “Constantin Brâncoveanu” Secondary School in Slatina. I share my experience with those who are now preparing for this job and hold seminars at the Faculty of Education Sciences within the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest in the Pitești University Center.

M.N.: – What were your beginnings with the Erasmus+ program?

A.N.: – With my eyes open to a broader vision of education, I became an enthusiastic promoter of the Erasmus+ program. My first contact with ANPCDEFP was nine years ago when I attended a project writing workshop. I didn’t stop until I coordinated our school’s first Erasmus+ project.

M.N.: – And now?

A.N.: – Now we are an accredited school, in the second year of accreditation. We aimed to involve as many teaching staff from the unit as possible in the project, and it is satisfying when those who participate for the first time in mobilities return excited and want to continue the activities of Erasmus projects. We also recently concluded a KA210 partnership project in which, in the mobilities, the students also participated alongside students from Italy, Turkey and Latvia. It was the first time for our students that they had such opportunities, they enjoyed the benefits of learning experiences outside the country’s borders.

M.N.: – You are a strong woman and it shows in what you do…

A.N.: – Yes. As an Erasmus+ Ambassador, I am determined to promote these valuable experiences, encourage international collaboration and highlight the benefits of open education. Globalization is a phenomenon that has also penetrated the field of education, and the Erasmus+ program supports the international collaboration of teachers and students, which I think is extraordinary
